Marketing for thrillers is mainly focused on creating suspense, with trailers being made to reveal enough information to grab an audience's attention without giving away the plot. Posters are usually made with darker colors in order to intensify visuals.

Two movie productions that represent the thriller genre are Se7en and Gone Girl. Se7en is focused on crime and psychological decay in a dark investigative plot. Gone Girl mainly combines both mystery and tension in the audeince.
